For the environment put by the brass band, and to thank it : a small series of portraits.
(to click on the photographs, to see them in big size.)

Great portraiture Olivier, they work really well in monochrome.

Olivier - thank you for your note on my post yesterday. Also, as a native New Yorker, I really like your new avatar.

Your black and white pictures are always of high quality. Of this group, I particularly like the image of the thin young woman holding her horn on her right shoulder. She looks thoughtful, perhaps even sad, and more likely to be holding a violin.

I wish I could write comments on your blog in French. I can read most of your notes in French but my ability to read your language is better than speaking or writing. When I am in France, I try to speak French as best I can. Sometimes people laugh at me but they are happy that I tried.

I am always pleased when you bring us photos of the fabulous cultural events that happen around your city - it seems very lively and go-ahead.

Wonderful portraits! You captured the facial expressions and level of concentration beautifully!

I can only imagine the beauty of this group ---
p.s.- you always have the greatest music with your blogs!

That's a big sound that the band makes. I think you were wise to take these photos in black and white - such a nitty gritty feel to them that seems to go with jazz/rock.

The first photo of the trombone players are magnificient. So is the big photo of the drummer.

What a great capture!

Tu me le diras quand tu passeras me voir

Bon weekend!

Peter a dit…

wonderful portraits..and the black and white version made them even more attractive

Tes portraits sont très beaux. J'aime l'effet sépia. Mon favori est la dernière. Tu prends des bonnes photos des gens. Leur musique doit avoir été bonne! Je te souhaite un bon weekend and go CTT!

Good transfer of what could be a routine day into a story told by pictures. I really enjoy them.

Great candid portraits! (and the subjects are not bad, either ;-))

I could not open the music link - do they play mostly classical or other types of music?
