The Buddhist community of the Essonne currently builds its pagoda near the “Park with Hares” . The construction of Khanh-Anh began in 1996, the building site advances slowly and it remains much to make. Many materials and decorations are originating in Asia, the such roof, whose tiles glazed manufactured in China with traditional techniques and who cover the monument. The end of work is estimated for 2010.

I am also surprised, not unlike mademoiselle p - that is a massive undertaking! And 14 years in the making (I guess it's tied to the ebb and flow of the buddists donations?)...
Still, I would be interested to see the finished product. Will you be around Olivier, to document it?

Amazing very large buildings. A big job to do for so many years. Nice pictures showing all the work being done on it.

Wow, that's a very big pagoda. And they're taking their time building it too! I guess it's because the building has much of artisanship and old techniques involved.

I too was thinking it has been 10 years now since they started...can't wait to see the finished project.

You must have a big population of Muslims there? Or is this building
biggest around Paris`s area, so, it`s for every Muslims on this area or is there other big buildings like this
near Paris? Just curious?
Fine buildings and photos too!

its unique to see this oriental building in France:)

Beautiful structures!

Is there a need for a building this big to accommodate so many people, i mean how many of the community are into this?

Ioanna a dit…

Very big project! But looks very impressive! Do you thing we'll still communicate after 10 years to show it us complete?

Anonyme a dit…

My goodness this is going to be beautiful if the start of it says anything.

My husband was once in a Buddist Temple and was amazed at all the fine detail work that was put into it. Perhaps that is why it will take another ten years...

Anonyme a dit…

you live in a diverse town, Olivier. Hopefully the finish temple will give you lots of photo opportunites !
