The castle of the Turrets (middle of the XIXe century) was destroyed by its owner (according to the legend, to forget a mourning) before passing into 1860 to Pastré and was rebuilt in a Renaissance style.
It was set fire to by German in 1944, and there remains today only the tower (known as of the Normandy farm), the orangery and a park (closed for the moment) of approximately 10 hectares.
The castle is on the edge of the Seine.
The park will be refitted and opened with the public.

Even the little bit left is beautiful. I expect to see a princess in the window and a prince on a white horse looking up at her.

It really makes to imagine. What a shame the misfortune the main castle.
Do you have many castles in Evry or near it. I know, that there in the valley of Loire are many, many fine castles, most fascinating was that, where Leonardo da Vinci has lived and of course Jeanne d`Arc`s castle. . .
Nice day to you!

What a turbulent past for this poor castle! But the future looks bright - like a mini Versaillles at Evry!!!

What remains of the castle is most charming. You've provided an excellent history lesson...and the vintage postcard is icing on the cake! Very well done Olivier!!

Thanks for the history and the photos. The first photo is very revealing because you can see the front is intact but there is nothing at the back. Great photo.
