La chapelle Saint-Blaise-des-Simples.

Cocteau se laissa inspirer par les « simples » qu'il dessina sur les murs.
Ces plantes médicinales (aconit, belladone, menthe, renoncule, valériane...) sont appelées ainsi car on n'utilisait au départ qu'une seule plante.
On les retrouve aussi dans le petit jardin attenant. Là est exposée la cloche des halles qui sonnait autrefois le début du marché.
Cocteau fut enterré en 1963 dans la chapelle qu'il avait décorée. Elle abrite depuis le portrait en bronze que Arno Breker avait réalisé quelques mois auparavant.
La chapelle est inscrite à l’inventaire supplémentaire des Monuments historiques depuis le 17 février 1982...Suite et fin demain

Cocteau was let inspire by the “simple ones” that it drew on the walls.
These medicinal plants (aconite, belladonna, mint, buttercup, valerian…) are called thus because one used at the beginning only one plant.
One also finds them in the small contiguous garden. There the bell of the markets is exposed which sounded the beginning of the market formerly.
Cocteau was buried in 1963 in the vault which it had decorated. It shelters since the bronze portrait that Arno Breker had carried out a few months before.
The Chapelle is registered with the additional inventory of the Historic buildings since February 17, 1982....Continuation and end tomorrow

Jean Cocteau est enterré dans la chapelle Saint-Blaise-des-Simples, dans la ville de Milly-la-Forêt (dans le departement de l'Essonnes, à environ 30 kilometres de la ville d'Evry). Lors de sa restauration en 1959, l'ancienne chapelle fut décorée par Jean Cocteau qui résidait dans la ville depuis 1945....à suivre
