Le 23 août 1944, la troisième Armée des États-Unis commandée par le général George Patton franchit la Seine par le pont reconstruit entre Étiolles et Évry. Deux jours après, l'armée de Patton atteindra la capitale. Cette année, nous fêtons le 65éme anniversaire de la libération d'Evry. En photo le monument commémoratif (il est gravé sur la plaque : "Ici, le 23 juin 1944, l'armée libératrice commandée par le général Patton a franchi la Seine") sur les bords de Seine d'Evry.

On 23 August 1944, the Third U.S. Army commanded by General George Patton crossed the Seine by the bridge and reconstructed between Etiolles Évry. Two days later, Patton's army reaches the capital. This year we are celebrating the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Evry. In photo, the memorial (it is engraved on the plaque: "Here, on 23 June 1944, the liberating army commanded by General Patton crossed the Seine")on the waterfront of the Seine d'Evry.

Olivier, Thank you for showing us the connection between your city and our country. Those must have been difficult days for your countrymen, and I'm glad that it's over. I wish peace for all humankind, but it is so difficult!!

L'ambiance est parfaite.
J'ai justement pris une photo il y a quelques mois de l'aéroport qui servait de base à l'armée de Patton "Chiriaco Summit" en Californie pour les exercices...

This is a great event. There is much talk about how many of the men that fought during the war (WWII) are no longer with us. It truly is an era passing us by.

C'était un sacré personnage ce Général Patton admirablement interprété au cinéma par George G Scott. Dur avec ses soldats, un meneur d'hommes qui a su les amener à la victoire pour le bien de tous. Et il a eu une fin curieuse si je puis dire.
C'est un bien bel hommage à ce libérateur et à ses hommes, son armée venant d'Italie, je crois.
