Depuis le 23 février 2002, Ingrid Betancourt est détenue par les FARC (Forces Armées Révolutionnaire Colombiennes). Ingrid Betancourt est née à Bogotá, en Colombie, le 25 décembre 1961. Fille d'un ancien ministre de l'éducation et d'une ancienne sénatrice, elle a vécu la majeure partie de son enfance à l'étranger et surtout en France. Française par son premier mariage, elle milite pour les Droits de l’Homme et contre l’injustice, la corruption et les narcotrafiquants. Elle est otage des FARC depuis le 23 février 2002. Le 23 févier 2002 : Lorsque les pourparlers avec les FARC en février 2002 sont brisés, le gouvernement de Pastrana donne l’ordre à l’armée de reprendre la zone de 42 000 km carrés cédés. Le 23 février, le Président Pastrana part en hélicoptère vers San Vicente del Caguán dans le but de rendre officielle la présence des forces armées dans la commune. Ingrid Betancourt, alors en campagne présidentielle, décide de faire acte de présence et d’accompagner le maire de San Vicente qui appartient à son parti politique. Ingrid Betancourt prend la route de Florencia (capitale du département) qui mène à San Vicente del Caguán. Quelques kilomètres plus loin, Ingrid et Clara Rojas, sa directrice de campagne, sont arrêtées et enlevées par les FARC. Cela fait maintenant cinq ans qu'Ingrid Betancourt est otage des FARC et quatre ans que nous n'avons plus de nouvelles.

The 23 févier 2002: When the talks with the FARC in February 2002 are broken, the government of Pastrana gives the order to the army to take again the zone of 42.000 km square yielded. On February 23, President Pastrana leaves by helicopter towards San Vicente del Caguán with an aim of making official the presence of the forces armed in the commune. Ingrid Betancourt, then in presidential campaign, decides to make act of presence and to accompany the mayor by San Vicente which belongs to its political party. Ingrid Betancourt takes the road of Florencia (capital department) which leads to San Vicente del Caguán. A few kilometers further, Ingrid and Clara Rojas, his director of countryside, are stopped and removed by the FARC. That made now five years that Ingrid Betancourt is hostage of the FARC and four years that we do not have any more a news.
