Theme Day : Metal : Le Jardin extraordinaire de François Melin #2

For this month's theme, I present to you the sculptor Francois Melin. He is a specialist on monumental metal sculptures. Photos taken in his studio during the creation of a command of a soldier for a memorial to the war 14-18. For the last photo, François Melin is amused to make model for me.

Love the last photo where Francois Melin is hamming it up for the camera.

I'm glad you have some shots of him working on his sculptures. Very good metal for theme day.

A grand ensemble of photographs for our Theme Day, Olivier. The first thing I thought of was Tin Man in the "Wizard of Oz"! The sculptor is a real character apparently. What a great group of photos!

Bon week end, Olivier!

As tu remarqué ?

Great art. There was a man in Paris who did works like this in a disused railway shed in the 20th.

Excellent post! Perfect for the theme day! I love the photos of the artist, particularly the last one. He reminds me of Alexander Calder, and seems to have a similar sense of whimsy!

How cool! I want one of those soldier sculpures.

I'm not sure whether I like the sculpture or the artist better...the expressions are wonderful on the man! Delightful images!

superb representation of the theme!

Marguerite-marie a dit…

Great photo and commentary. The statue does indeed look like the Tin Man!

Fascinating sculpture. It needs as much craft as art — maybe more!
