
En continuant la route de Versailles, nous rentrons dans Courcouronnes, et nous passons devant la mairie, l'ancienne ecole communale et a la fin de cette route, nous découvrons le collège Paul Fort, où nous trouvons une immense fresque en hommage ...... au célèbre peintre Gauguin. Petite anecdote sur Gauguin : il fut parmi les terrassiers qui ont participé à la construction du canal de Panama : "Je dois creuser de 5h30 du matin à 6 heures du soir, sous un soleil tropical et la pluie. La nuit j'étais dévoré par les moustiques", écrit-il. Environ 25 000 travailleurs décédèrent pendant la construction. Gauguin, lui, tomba malade. Il attrapa la dysenterie et la fièvre paludéenne.
