En arrivant au Quartier de Liers, on fait une rencontre surprenante : un elephant.Cet éléphant fut installé sur la place en 1950 ; il fut acheté par M.MASSE, propriétaire du café de Liers, et dans l'impossibilité de le faire entrer dans son jardin par la porte cochère, il en fit don à la ville.
Apres l'installation de l'Elephant, le café prit le nom de CAFE-TABAC de L'ELEPHANT et la place fut renommée Place de l'Elephant.
Reguliérement des farceurs peignent en rose l'elephant et la mairie est obligée de le repeindre en blanc.

While arriving at the District of Liers, one makes a surprising meeting: an elephant. This elephant was installed on the place in 1950; it was bought by M.MASSE, owner of the coffee of Liers, and in impossibility of inserting it in its garden by the carriage door, it made gift at the city of it.After the installation of the Elephant, the coffee took the name of CAFÉ of the ELEPHANT and the place was famous Place of the Elephant.
Regularly jokers comb pink the elephant and the town hall is obliged to repaint it in white.(to click here to see the gallery photographs)

Pour Jenny, en effet en france, voir un elephant rose signifie que l'on est legerement bourré. c'est pour cette raison qu'il est souvent peint en rose par des farceurs
